You know when the older Ed Bloom is under the water in his bath tub and his wife, Sandra, walks in and asks what he's doing. He tells her that he's drying out.
What does he mean?
He's drying out?
I don't get it. Help, please.

pretty sure it has nothing having to do with alcohol since Sandra said I don't think I'll ever dry out.

I think the movie is supposed to be so weird it just fits. He says "drying out" at that moment in the tub to be silly in a serious kinda way. A few things that are said are kinda opposite of what's really going on.

Drying out often means "Getting Sober"
I remember the scene, but not the character well enough to recall if he is an alcoholic.
