I know this is hard, but for those of you that are religious, imagine if you went through your whole life studying religion, living religion and giving your full faith, and when pass on you discover there is no God. No heaven. Nothing. Imagine that situation and tell me, would you do it all over again anyway? And if so, why?

Ok, for those of you that having reading comprehension troubles, I asked you to imagine this situation and then answer. It's not a question of coming back from nothingness.

For those of you that provided thoughtful answers, thank you.

I've thought about this one long and hard and honestly, no I wouldn't do it all over again. Because Basically I'm not a bad person because of my beliefs, i believe that because of my beliefs I am where I am today. Happily married, good job, healthy, and so if thats all my beliefs ever get me so be it, I've lived a full and happy life.

Sheesh imagine that. You just lived your life trying to be a good person.

Yes I would do it all over again. There is nothing wrong with being a good person. If more people tried to be good, there would be so much less pain and suffering in the world.

If there is no Heaven, and I've lived like there is, then I lose. But if I live like there is no Heaven and there is, then I lose a lot more.

To those of you who knocked Jim B for asking his question, it was a good question and he didn't say that he wasn't a believer so be nice to him. Even if he is not a believer, be nice to him because God still loves him, are you better than God to judge him?

Yes, I would do it all over again. I would do it again because living according to the Word Of God is a good way to live. To me stealing is wrong, lying is wrong, cheating is horrible, brrrrrr,

When we do pass on. And there is nothing there. We will never know it, because we will have ceased to exist, and, thus, will not be able to know there is nothing...if we do know there is nothing, then we are knowing, and therefore there is something...am I making sense?

So, is it not better to live according to God's word which is basically do your best to believe in "ME", do no harm to others, and bring love to all. This way, when you die you have have a wonderful afterlife.

If you live a life of selfish lawlessness, die expecting no afterlife, and find you were wrong, and there is an afterlife, and you will be held accountable for every harm you did to others----how will you feel then. And you cannot say you were not warned, and did not know, because I am telling you. There is an afterlife.

I have had a couple friends die on the operating table and come back with stories. These gals are not the type to make things up either.

Good luck to you.

I would have nothing to lose- if there is nothing after it is all over then I am worm food and I won't be here to 'discover' anything at the end.
I would do it all over again, mostly because I know there is a God- my life has been changed in many ways, all for good, by what I know.
And as I said, if there is nothing at the end, then I have lost nothing, but I have gained a changed and blessed life if nothing else.
My question to nonbelievers is this, what if you get to the end and find you are wrong?? Hell is not a party hosted by the devil and God and heaven are not the common misconceptions people make them out to be. If I am wrong, which I know I am not, I have nothing to lose- if you are wrong- eternity is at stake!

Of course I'd do it the same. First, if there is no heaven, then I'm just going to be some disconnected energy or nothing or whatever a non-believer believes happens when we die -- so there will be nothing to miss. Second, faith gives people joy, comfort, strength here on earth. It's not necessarily about some external (eternal) reward. I think too much emphasis is placed on the whole heaven vs hell aspect of faith anyway.

The religious people will feel an intense feeling of disappointment, when they realise that they will not be winning a place in the celestial condo in the sky. There will be no shuffleboard with the apostles. Jesus will not go by on rollerskates.

This will turn to anger, when they consider that they could actually have watched South Park instead of turning off the tv.

This feeling will pass into sadness as they think of all the hours they spent nodding and pretending to agree with President Bush, when in their hearts all along they could see he was a genial buffoon.

And then finally closure, when it dawns upon them that life really was the main event, not the trailer.

What if there is a God and there is a heaven, then you cant go back. So i better not play games with God. If he is real then life is Hell for rest of the life. One more thing, believing in God helps you lead a better and peaceful life. Like everybody runs to God when they know that they have cancer, why.. coz they get comfort from God.. i was a hardcore athiest dude... i am glad i left that life

If they was not a heaven, I would still live my life the way I would if there was a heaven. Living right just keeps you from being hurt and hekps you to live long and be a respected person that people will look up to, But besides they is a heaven, so live right and follow Gods commandments.

Yes, I rather live a good life and have a goal to reach the highest degree of heaven, even if there is no heaven, I would know that I lived a righteous and good life. I would not change my goals and aspirations for anything, even if they are "pointless," I think that it shows real character to live as if there is a heaven even if there is questionably not a heaven

heaven isn't just about what 'll happen after death ,,heaven is about now ,, if u believe in something then this how Ur life 'll be ,, if u believe in heaven then Ur life now will be heaven ,, good ideas = good moments = good life ,, so , whatever there is heaven or not ,, and whatever u believe in,, that won't change the facts and the truth that what 'll be 'll be !! we don't know for sure what 'll happen but since we got nothing to do about it then its better to stop thinking about it and live our life without over thinking in something we'll never knew !!!and do whatever we like and believe in whatever makes our life more easier and happier ,, sometimes its better no to know everything and let go
