don't want anyone to see the porn you've been looking up, huh? i kid, i kid....anyway, when that side window is open (you can open it by clicking the 'history' icon on your browser's toolbar, on Internet Explorer this looks like a clock with a green arrow facing counter-clockwise) right click on the days (today, thursday,...last week, etc) and click delete. you can also accomplish this by clicking (on Internet Explorer) the 'Tools' menu on the top of your tool bar, then click 'Internet Options...' There the window will be divided into three boxes. The last should be the 'History' box. Just click clear history and you're all set. As you can see you can also adjust how long your browser saves your history.

Have a close look at the icons on the tool bar. Can you see a small black upside down triangle at the side of every icon, well if you click on it a drop down menu will appear with all sorts of things on it.
The one you want is on the left of the search box. look for options and personalize your tool bar.
you can also highlight the search and press delete on your keyboard.
