Read the statement above your signature on the application. You are authorizing both a criminal background check and a credit check. Both can be run for a minimal fee when a company processes large volumes of checks.
Walmart does run credit checks. After the initial screening processes and, usually, prior to making an offer.
Good news: An Employment Credit Report differs from a traditional credit report, in that it is tailored for use in an employment situation. For example, it does not include account numbers, nor does the "pull" count against the applicant's credit score.
There's lots of information on this out on the web.

It is just a routine criminal background check and a one time urine drug test. If you do have any criminal issues in your background be honest on your application. (They even hire parolees depending on the circumstances). They could care less about your credit history unless you apply for a Walmart credit card.

>>> Some background check services work, while others do not. My daughter in law used the ECheck one spoken of by the "Anonymous" Detective guy on here. That worked great, she discovered all types of information about a prospective husband that altered the course of her relationship. It helped her to avoid making what would have been a terrible life decision. As for me, I am one of the HR heads at a well-known firm. Our firm is one which relies heavily upon good public relations, so I also use https://tr.im/8b409 on a regular basis to weed out potential bad apples. My primary function at our firm is hiring and reviewing resumes.
Cheers!

I just tried https://backgroundreports.im this past year to find out if I could find my birth-parent. My biological father left me when I was 7, and has refused to speak to me since. I grew up with my biological Mother and Step-father. I have only ever contacted my biological dad a couple times to date. All I knew of him personally when I conducted the search was his full name, and the city of a previous address he used to have.
When the results came back based on the little bit of info I had, It pulled up a recent address and even a phone number. When I called the #, I heard the voice of what sounded like it may be my step-brother. I asked if Joseph(my bio father) was Home, and he said no but to try back after dinner.
I haven't done anything with the info, But yeah I found what I was wanting to have.
