The Spanish gave it the name Boca Raton in the eighteenth century. The Spanish brought many of the names to the area. I'm sure that you are aware that Boca means mouth and Raton means mouse or rat.

With a name like Boca Raton, I'd expect ALL the street names to be Spanish. Why are there some that aren't?

Because it was discovered by the Spanish. Even the name of the city is Spanish. You need to study the history of Florida.

Because many of the settlers of Fl were hispanic (from Spain). The Spanish language comes from Latin, so some of their words are the same as Latin words.
