well if I was your wife and you have been in Iraq for a while I would be happy with you just being home...but my suggestion is to find a nice quiet hotel with a jacuzzi in your room get some scented candles (vanilla is always nice) some romantic music and just be alone with her and take advantage of your time together.

If you are coming home sometime soon, a Vermont vacation in the fall is always great. There are tons of things for kids to do, but also romantic hotels, wine tastings, and Bed and Breakfasts if you were to be alone with your wife for a few days. It's a little chilly for beach areas, but Cape Cod is still always nice, even just to walk around the beach at night or something.

It's hard to give a good answer without more detail.
What sorts of things do you and your wife enjoy? What's your budget? Are you into the outdoors or art or adventure?
A couple of ideas:
Go on an adventure tour in Maine.
Take the Fung-Wah bus down to New York and walk all the way from the top of Manhattan to Chinatown.
The website www.site59.com has lots of last-minute trips.
Your wife may just want to have you around the house--you could build a treehouse together.

Amelia Island, FL. Nice, not crowded beaches, small, town with all the amentities, big town nearby, and of course Center St. (all the shopping your wife would want to do). There are sail boat, kayaking, and fishing lessons. It's really peaceful and relaxing. Yet fun and diverse. Amelia Island has alot of history and even has Ft. Clinch state park where you can ride bikes. You might want to try St. Augustine, Jacksonville, St. Simon's Island, Jeckyll Island, Savvanah, Folkston, (after Jacksonville they are in GA.) Have a nice trip.
