Only cut off the bottom fronds that are turning yellow or brown. Never "trim" any of the green fronds.

Typically you do not trim a palm tree. Wait for the old fronds to turn and then gently pull or cut them away being careful not to tear any new growth.

I cut off almost all of the fronds when I bring it in for the winter. I don't cut any of them off while it is outside for the summer.
