We have so many beaches, great weather, great camping, great skiing, Disneyland, close to Mexico, Hollywood, diverse, so many different cultures and different foods, the vibe is so much better out here, great musicians flock to north and south california, great universities.

It just is the place where things happen. Problem is that most of the people who live there now are not natives of the area, but idiots from other parts of the US and World abroad, and now Southern CA is a place for idiots who enjoy average housing costs that have exceeded half a rock, and people who are the rejects and burnouts of other places.
I know - I lived there 32 years and then left for the Midwest. Better housing costs, and I love the seasons.

I love California (aside from traffic in Southern Cal.). Within a few hours you can be at the beach, the mountains, the desert.. and it's great that smoking is not allowed in restaurants!

Probably it started with all the movie stars living there and people copied the way they dressed and talked. With all the TV coverage of the stars and the internet, I think the whole country is up on the latest fashions and sayings.

I live in Northern California. It's pretty much always warm, lots of things to do, and there are a lot of beautiful people here.

It's gotta be the diversity and then the weather. Where else wintertime can you go surfing one day and then snowboard the next.
