God made the chickens first then came the eggs

Which came first - the chicken or the egg? "The chicken" came first - in the sentence of the question. If the question is phrased differently, the answer is different.
Reframing the question

It could be said that the question simply requires one to know the context. Most people thinking of the question automatically think of the timeline and it is in this manner that both the previous evolutionary theory and religious teachings contexts arise. Other potential contexts are:

* Having looked through a dictionary from front to back, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?
* When you walked through the supermarket, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?
* When reading the menu, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?

It depends on what theory you ascribe to . If you believe in creationism then it would be the chicken. If evolution is the way then it would be the egg. A chicken like creature would have laid it and through spontaneous mutation the first actual chicken would have hatched

Well, if you go by the oldest book we know that gives a clue on this subject, (the Bible)...the chicken came first because in the Bible, God created flying creatures in Genesis...which I'm sure got together and mated and ended up with the egg. No, I'm not a religious fanatic, but...there's really no other resource to quote on that, lol!

A genetic mess-up caused birds to hatch out of an egg and Nature, realizing that these birds are strong enough to live in the world evolved into what we call today, chickens!

it doesn't matter which came first. What matters is we have the chicken and the egg to eat and take care of.
