I've been at this job for 6 months and had no thoughts of leaving, but I just got a promotion. I'm ready to move on, I'm just not ready to leave.

Never. In my very first job I was promoted after six months. Sounds to me your employer finds you valuable, dependable and wants to reward you for your hard work. Now, it is one thing to be promoted in title alone, another to have a salary increase along with that promotion. I hope it's the latter, and congratulations on your promotion.

Don't you like the new job? You do not have to accept a promotion if you don't want the job. You might be able to go back to what you were doing before, but if you decide to advance with this employer in the future, they may not be willing to take another chance on you.

Good luck.

That depends on what career plan they have in mind for you. You must have proven yourself and the company wanted to groom you.
Give yourself a year or two to try it out.
