They disguise their voice, real low. It's a male. They called her a sl-ut and a
who-re..and said they were going to kill her, and what was real creepy is they
said," your dead b*tch". She has the police involved. Do u think this person is
just trying to scare her, or is this REALLY a serious thing??........I think I know
who it is, she doesn't agree. It feels like it is someone who hates her, alot.

Thanks, I do hope the police can get
this stupid a-ss. And she tends to go with losers, so no wonder these
weirdos do this stuff. Unfortunatly,
she does live a high risk lifestyle, &
I try to tell her, but she won't change.
She is family, so I cannot turn my
back on her. I retreat from her, then I
talk with her again. I want this thing
resolved....Thanks your your ideas!

Let the police do their job. They will catch the culprit.

Change her phone number and give out her new number sparingly to only those people who would have an interest in calling her. If the person keeps calling, you will know its someone close to her that's making the calls.

If you can record the calls and keep the tape, do so. Don't always pick up. Let the tape go off and see what happens or even play a phony response to the call as though you were actually answering the telephone....

Just have the recording say 'hello' and allow the caller to answer the fake hello. Might work and you may have the caller stop after he/she realizes the tape was a set up to record the caller's voice. Then take the tape out and keep it apart from the the recorder as not to allow to have the voice taped over. And, place a new tape in the recorder.

Keep making police reports. The person will never know the reports are being made. If there is a major concern, call the phone company and find out if they can unblock the number. I'm sure he's calling "private". Try recording the calls. Just say..."this call is being recorded"...and 9 times out of 10, ther person will continue talking and threatening. At that point, take the recording to the police. You then should be able to go to the states attorneys office to get an order of protection. Be careful. You never know when someone is being serious, but for someone to call and say those kind of things makes you wonder what the hell is wrong with them.

This happened to my Mom. She was a nurse in a mental hospital, and so when this really perverted person was making threatening calls, we all felt so helpless....he didn't care who answered the phone, ...he would just keep saying my Mom's name and say very disturbing things what he would do with her. Then I had an idea...I never thought it would make that sick person stop calling, but he did. This was way back in the 80's. I waited for his call with two giant tin cookie container covers....and the moment the guy said hi, I put the phone down and banged those two tin cookie covers against each other. The noise must have made a profound impact on his eardrums, because he never ever called again after that. Try something like that...a noise that's much more offensive to the ears- like the screeching of fingernails on the chalk board- record it and use it!!!

99.9% of people who do that will not go to the next step and physically hurt someone. It's good that she has the cops involved, though. She should also tape all of the calls, install an alarm system and get a big dog, just in case. Making threats like that is a serious felony and the jerk could do prison time when he gets caught.

She should not speak to him at ALL when he calls - that just encourages him to keep calling. Just hang up or put the phone down and let the machine record his rant. She should also change to an unlisted phone number or screen all of her calls with caller ID or an answering machine.

The question is, has she done or said something to someone that really pissed them off. If so, whoever it is they're really, really pissed off. But on the other hand, if you friend is a foreigner like from the middle East or any where else and not from here, then it is just a harrassment. I'm glad you guys got the police involved. So good luck to you.

For the umpteenth time, people there is NO SUCH WORD as "alot." They are TWO WORDS! Anyway, unless you can prove who is making these calls (Caller ID, phone tap) then you really haven't a leg to stand on. You cannot accuse if you cannot prove. If things get bad, I would call the phone company, put on a tap, and then the police will become involved through the phone company.

if its repeated its probally not just a annoying prank
maybe you could let her stay at your house for awhile so she feels safer
maybe she should get a gun

tell her to get get caller I.D.
ask the police to track her calls
I wouldn't block the number unless you dont want to catch the person whos doing it

Caller ID, don't pick up, block #, change phone # to unlisted.

Why is this in Arts & Humanities?
