I enjoy reading because I like going to the characters' different places and worlds. I do put myself in the books, but as another character, and never as one of the actual characters. I can definitely put myself in the world they live in. I didn't actually realize other people did this. I just thought I was weird.
I'm reading "A Series of Unfortunate Events" right now (yes, I know they are children's books, and I do usually read books for adults, but they are cute books and I really enjoyed the movie). But since everything that happens to them is so awful I haven't put myself in the books at all!
A lot of books (and movies) annoy me because sometimes the characters I really like go through some sort of transformation because of the main conflict and by the end of the book they no longer have the same qualities that attracted me to them in the first place. Or they're dead. Oh well.

Everything and Anything that i think is interesting and entertaining....particularly fantasy, adventure, and classics.
I love books that you can not put down cuz u just have to know what happens next. Oh, and i like books about history...not fiction books but non fiction that takes place in history and not in todays modern world.
To answer your other questions i do sometimes feel like a tag along in some books like especially if you can relate to the character in the story. sSome authors have that effect of making you feel like ur in the worlds they describe or create a picture in your mind kind of like a movie. I read cuz i want to.

When I read, I'm there in that world. Everything plays out in my head like I'm watching a movie. I can get lost in a good book. If the author is especially good at writing, I do actually feel like the main character. I've read a lot of Stephen King. I've scared myself silly reading his books alone late at night, but that's the appeal of it. Books have been with me most of my life, I've been reading since about age 4.

I read because it empowers me. It's nice to know...as much as you can. I read everything (in english) I get my hands on. Whenever I go out and someone brings up a subject in a conversation...it feels good to be able to converse on that particular subject intelligliby. On the other hand, I have a nosy nature and reading feels as if I"m invading the character's space, knowing their thoughts and experiencing the depth of their emotions, it's my vacation.

I read because I like to. And it's better than watching television or sitting on the computer all day.

Reading can be soothing, exciting, comforting, entertaining and stimulates my mind. It can transport me to far away places. It lets me experience someone else's life or travel back in time. I'm exposed to experiences that I'm unlikely to experience in my own life. Reading broadens my outlook.

Enjoyment, knowledge, intrigue, relaxation from inanities on the tube, because I can get more out of a book than you can on the internet.
