Typically any company can track down your website history if you're doing it on their computers. You can get viruses, spyware, and all sorts of things from travelling to those types of sites and in your Company Manual (if you have one) it should say whether or not that is a very strict policy. However, any company that has a networking system will be very cautious of these things because anything that hurts one computer can get into the rest of the network.
Bottom line: (And you know it) Don't do this on your company computer and if (or rather because) you already have do your best to completely clean out your computer. Clear all temporary Files, history, and check for viruses, spyware. Because you made the mistake and if you want your company to not find out you need to fix it yourself.....and an IT Manager will tattle! lol
You may need to even find a way to restart the computer. If you have Windows XP this is not as difficult but if not. But LOL even after all that...who knows if it will help. There's all sorts of ways they can use to track your actions. Good Luck.

Hi,
First, it is so easy to track this that I think every company does it to some degree.
Second, I would highly recommend stop looking at any questionable sites and just pray they don't check your records. Most of the time they only check the logs when they suspect there is a problem.
Third, I have not been in the same place; however, a co-worker was first suspended then terminated after reports showed he spent company time bidding on auctions at ebay on company time and equipment.
In closing, one words. STOP!

absolutely. In fact most companies with an IT department DO regularly check to see what the employees are doing on the internet.
A lot of times a duplicate folder is saved on the server with the user or workstation ID with a copy of everything that you've done on the internet.
There is nothing you can do. The information is stored on the server. Erasing your computer's history files will do absolutely zip.
Just hope that your IT department is full of lazy people who don't do very many random checks.

Of course they can see what you've been doing online, even small companies can look into their cache of who's been where.
I know of two people at my job that were let go because of innapropriate internet usage on company property--aka: looking at dirty websites on company time, on the company's computer. Im glad they were let go-I was constantly doing their 'catch up' work because they were so busy soliciting drugs via email, blogging, looking at porn, etc.
They probablly have key words or sites that they flag, then check it against the user and keep tabs on them.
If I were you, I'd quit doing that-just wait till you get home to use the internet.

Yes, the company can track down each and every website you visit, your login ID and passwords, even your personal email (like Yahoo or Hotmail).
The best and safest thing to do is STOP!
The second best thing is to be best buddies with the IT manager and hope he doesn't turn you in.

Very easily. A large amount of software exists that allow a company to monitor internet use and more. Best advice, stop looking.

Companies monitor their employee Internet habits all the time. People used to be just scared of them tracking what phone calls were made, but now they monitor the web as well. You can't fault them. It's their money, their time and their computer and service.
