There is FMLA; but you will not qualify for that. The only way you can take time off from the first job while working at the 2nd one and staying employed by both companies, is IF you take vacation time from the old one.

If you tell your current boss your intentions to try the new one out, while staying employed with the first one--mostly likely you will be fired from the first one.

if it's a nothing job, then you should be able to get another nothing job within a week if you don't like the new job much. So just quit, rather than trying to squiggle out of it. I mean, you could get dirty and say someone in the family died and you need to travel out of state for the funeral or something... but that's shady. Just be for real... or take one day off and decide whether you like the new job on the first day. I know one day isn't much but it's better than nothing, so use however much time off you can get to feel out the new job.

You have two options:

1. Tell your current boss of your new job and request a leave of absence for two (2) weeks. Maybe he'll match the offer, or;

2. Tell your current boss that you need a leave of absence for two (2) weeks for "personal reasons". Be prepared to get fired if he finds out.
