My schools a middle school, and usallly, for the spring musical, the put on a good choice of a musical, like Honk, Footloose, Bye bye birdie, you get the drift. Anyway, our choerogerfer is a professinal who works on broadway, and our director is terrific. My question is. What is wrong with these people? Have they lost their minds?!

How could they compare something as great as Footloose to something as juvenile as High School Musical? I go to a high school where theater is a very prominent along with sports (that's not new), and High School Musical is among the choices for the next musical. We just performed Little Shop of Horrors last year and I definitely think that there is something wrong with performing High School Musical for a high school musical (ha-ha). I would kill to perform Bye-Bye Birdie or West Side Story.

I am not familiar with "High School Musical". However, when I was in high school, I entered our acting club, which was called the "Silver Foxes". So named because our school mascot was the fox and the silver comes from the term "silver screen'.
I was in a few plays and I had a blast!! One of the sillier productions was "The Mouse That Roared!". About a tiny country on the verge of bankruptcy. The Minister of Affairs came up with the hair brain idea of declaring war on the United States, because he reasoned that their tiny country would easily be defeated by the U.S. and then they would get a whole lot of foreign aid. The play was pretty clever. But the outcome was a whole lot different!!
Look, any play put on by a school, gives the students a chance to experiment with characters and let their imagination take flight. It really is a great learning experience, so may I say, relax and enjoy the musical and be glad that your school has a talented person who guides these students. I was the recipient of such a person who gave generously of her time.

My husband makes a very solid residing so i can do/purchase regardless of i want. i've got not got very many acquaintances anymore, purely some very close acquaintances. I nevertheless like to bounce. I by no ability drink, alcohol provides me problems. that's like severe college yet 10 situations extra helpful!!! however the better portion of my existence is having the flexibility to be with my teenagers 24/7! they're impressive! thats a pretty big change to go from some classics like footloose then do a Disney Channel!! lol
that would be funny to see how well the actors in ur schools play protray the characters in high school musical.
the ppl in the audience who adore high school musical would love ur schools play if the outcome was good

Oh, they seriously lost their minds!!! Doing a HSM play at a school is just so wrong!!! At least, performing a song or two is okay but the whole movie as a play? that's just sick!!! And as for me...I'd rather let the original Troy, Gabriela, Ryan, Sharpay etc. act out the whole movie on Disney Channel!

I completely agree with you, that is just wrong. How is High School Musical any different than any of the other, low quality, cheesy movies that Disney Channel puts out? Yet it had a ton of success.

I think that they want some etiquette in there school that's If they are a private school. They all want to be better than another school. My daughter was going to be in a musical regular ones but they all want those that are leaving middle school to do the musical. I think they took this musical to its extreme. High school musical is a musical for high school students to worry about not middle schools.

no, you are deffinetly not the only one who thinks that is seriously wrong. Thats just messed up. I don't know why everyone obsesses over that movie. It wasnt even that good.

haha! well at least you have good school plays each year, and i would try out anyway. if you love to act go for it and chances are, it will be a great experience!

wow thats sad i mean high school musical is a good disney movie but it would be horrible to actually put on i would stick with the basics
