I'm happy to be leaving with a good severance, but its funny because they have no clue that I know....maybe I should clean my desk out in advance....or send an email to everyone thanking them for their years of work with me, but send it 2 days before the company tells me. The company will be going nuts.

What else do you think I should do?

Are you being fired or made redundant? If fired, then you normally wouldn't be getting severance? Anyway, if you're getting severance then I'd say don't be an idiot and risk it. The power is in the hands of your employers - they could just turn around and fire you instead if they find out you knew confidential information and then acted up over it. Use the 3 weeks to do a good job and quietly look for another one. You're lucky you've fot that time to do it.

You should do nothing. I have worked in an organization where the list changed just days before having to let folks go. Now, let's for argument sake say you do all these foolish things (and they are foolish) and your name was removed from that list without you knowing. You have just put a very bad tarnish on your work record. Yes, it is wise to go about your business and do the best job you can up until the end. Don't ever burn bridges. It will come back and slap you in the head.

You shouldn't do anything to jeopardize that severance. I would just pretend I don't know. You can always say your goodbyes after they tell you, and just slowly start "organizing" your desk. Most companies do not like the word to get out to prevent anybody from going postal on them I say just shhh. The moneys worth it.

I once jumped before I was pushed. It gave them a bit of a shock, and I felt I had control. But if you've a severance coming, then maybe just take the money, then run! Hope things work out for you.

I would come in late, or not at all

I dont know if you need to work once you leave this place, but if i did, i would be spending company time calling on potential employers.

Oh, dont forget to take long lunches and leave early....mondays and fridays are now optional

Update your resume and start looking for another job -- NOW -- unless to plan to take a sabbatical and live off your severance pay!

Do not let it be known that you already know, but do get your things in order and discreeting remove your personal items.

Thats pretty funny. You should just walk out now. Thats only if you have another job as backup or something else for income. If not, just let 'em fire you, then file for unemployment and start collecting free money!

I agree with the one who said give your 2 weeks notice, but try to utilize the full 3 weeks to ascertain another job.

burn a mixed cd for your boss and right before he calls you in, go to the bathroom hold a liter to the fire thinggies so the sprinklers get set off. entitle the cd "i quit" and leave it on his desk as you walk out the door.
