I have had to do a lot of digging but I finally get them. It makes the lawn look terrible. You need to dig down to find all their tunnels. I have even tried to gas them with the mower by running a hose from the muffler into the hole. If I have seen them working near the surface I have used buck shot in a 12 gauge. I have even shot them with a 22 when they were out of their hole and I could see them. I tried the smoke bombs too and they did not work for me either. You could try a poison in their hole. I never did, I just kept digging and doing the other things I suggested.

Look up "black hole" on the internet. I guess you might want to narrow it down a bit more. But we got a gopher trap called that and it is the only thing that has worked. My neighbors have borrowed it.

you want them gone then try this and no I am not joking
Buy a 30 cent pack of juicy fruit and chew a piece for about 1 min just enough to get it chewy then place it by a hole. Do this to as many holes as you have in your yard. They will smell it take it and eat it but can not digest it and it will kill them.
Trust me
Its a 30 cent pack of gum what do you have to lose

Gophers are in your yard because they are eating the grub worms. Get rid of the grubs & you get rid of the gophers. We had the same problem. We used Bayer Grub Control. It works.

Probably the best video tutorial on gopher control is the old movie, "Caddyshack". Go rent that, and you'll have several options at your disposal by the end of the movie.

take a rasor blade and put it face up sticking out of a log or anything you can think of. Next, cover the sharp part of the blade in salt. It will continue to lick the blade until it bleeds to death. Becareful not to kill any of your neighbors cats though.

Try putting moth balls down the hole. My neighbor says this works. They do not like the smell.
