Oh dear... I wish I had a link ;-) But I don't... for everyone who says lions and dogs can't mix, they're only right as far as natural breeding... genetic engineering is allowing for some astonishing things to be done, many of which are just un-natural. Do a search for 'chimera' and you will find several studies in which human and cow DNA was successfully crossed and the embrio was allowed to grow for 14 days before it was (officially anyway) destroyed.

I can't find a link to the direct study, but I'm only spent 2 minutes looking...
"Chimeras were once merely the fantastic creations of science fiction; however, rapid advances in genetics, cloning, and embryology have resulted in the blurring of species lines, including our own species, Homo sapiens.4 In particular, recent advances in the development of chimeras have led to the creation of a variety of organisms with both human and animal components"

Zavos has been very busy in the last year, conducting the very kind of research that Hatch/Feinstein seeks to encourage. First, he reports in the June 2003 Reproductive BioMedicine Online that he has successfully created human/cow chimera embryos. He did this by removing the nucleus from an unfertilized cow egg and replacing that material with the nucleus from a human body cell. (This is SCNT.) He then stimulated the genetically modified cow eggs and, in 45 percent of them, developed the approximately 97 percent human/three-percent cow-chimera embryo for three days.

If you do some research (in real scientific journals, not just on the internet BTW) you will find some really, really scary stuff out there... literally hundreds of 'species' have been created in labs by combining DNA of creatures which can't naturally breed... the only downfall is in 98% of the cases the 'offspring' is not viable (sterile, not capable of reproduction.)

No. The chromosomes will not line up, and an egg cannot be fertilized naturally. (In what is called a "live cover") that is by sexual contact. Probably lots of things can be done in a laboratory, however. Unlikely the fertilized egg would survive for long. However, there are some cross breedings that do survive, and do quite well---horses+ zebra= zorse (they can be quite nasty), wolves and dogs (they are space cadets, since they are essentially still wolves. A few crossed hybrid wolves turn out pretty well, but usually not. Lion and tigers (ligers) usually sterile, as is the horse and the donkey (mule).

No lions are in the cat family and can't cross into the dog family.
They have been trying for centuries to mix one family line with another unsuccessfully. For some reason it just won't work

NO. They are a different species and cannot breed. House cats and dogs cannot mix. Therefore, a lion and a dog cannot mix.

as in become friends n stuff then yeah they can. if u train them when their small so they get used to eachother. but if u mean a lion and a dog should "get it on" then no! it would be twisted n would damage the lion or the dog!

no - one is a cat, & one is a dog. obviously. one has more chromosomes than the other - which woulld never even be compatible in the first place - because one is a cat, and one is a dog.

i've got not got my canines to any extent further, yet I used to have 3, and one died. One grew to become into Calypso. i'm uncertain what breed he grew to become into yet i'm fairly specific he grew to become right into a mutt terrier. i did not have him for long in the previous he died, on account that he ate some thing undesirable. My 2d canines grew to become into named Max and he grew to become right into a bichon frise. I even have him for greater or less 2 years until eventually we had to grant him away using fact we've been moving to a sparkling state in an house that did not enable canines. Max grew to become into rather energetic and he grew to become into considered one of those candy canines that could desire to roam the backyard loose with supervision of direction. He used to look ahead to me outdoors of my college for when I got here out for the day and it grew to become into rather lovable. He almost knowledgeable himself in a fashion and he grew to become into an extremely sensible canines. i admire him. My 0.33 canines I have been given presently, and my mom gave her to a chum while she grew to become into approximately 2 months old or so. Her call grew to become into Chloe and he or she grew to become right into a husky/golden ret blend, very playful yet she used to chew rather difficult.
