The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is your best bet. Just make sure if you are using it on a glossy surface that you don't rub to hard. It will even work on textured surfaces. They make three different kinds now.

1. The original eraser

2. Magic Eraser Duo The blue side is an absorbent layer that helps you hold on to Mr. Clean Magic Eraser DUO as you clean until the white side is gone. (this is the one I recommend)

3. Magic Eraser Extra Power

I have tried all of them and like #2 the best because of the blue layer that helps you keep grip so you can use the entire eraser, the original tends to crumble into pieces halfway through it's use.

They are available at just about any retail store for around $3.00 for a 2 pack.

Ouch!!! That's sounds pretty bad. I don't know if it will work but the Magic Eraser does a pretty good job of getting rid of markings from my 2yr old.

Try fingernail polish remover, this works really well if on a satin or semigloss finish. If on a flat finish you may use turpintine.
