Honestly, I would have to walk past. As I am female, I would stop and help, but if a man did that they could get in trouble for all sorts of things.
I've seen a guy (about that age) who was scared to even cross the street when a girl fell off her bike, bacause he could get accused of anything.
But I don't think that is a reflection of men being selfish, I think it shows how sad a state our society is in.

I'm only a year off and I WOULD ask, though I agree with the response regarding keeping some distance so she does not feel threatened.
I think society today creates these barriers where we would not want to be seen as interfering. At the same time, you don't know what this girl is going through. She may actually need someones help but, being in a bus station late at night, is wary of asking for any.
Let me ask you this though: If she were to say that her BF has just walked off on her and she has no way to get home, would you give her £10 for a taxi?

I would stop and offer this girl help , at 39 an 18 year old could be your daughter .
As at 39 a 60 year old women could be your mother and the situation applies
As it does if the same situation was reversed , or two people of the same sex involved
I would never walk by someone in real distress

I'd ask. You have to know that asking gets you a small percent of responsibility - you'll have to decide what to do about the answer you get. It doesn't make you responsible for the person, or her condition, but it does open the door for grace to come through. What if you were in such a condition you sat on the floor, crying? For me, I'd have to be in a bad situation, and in need of help. She might just be at that moment that comes to all of us when we feel unneeded, unwanted. She might be drunk and best left alone. No way to tell unless you ask.

I would stop, and ask if I could help, but keep my distance as it is dark and I'm a strange man. I'd try to convince her to go to a friend, adding that i was worried leaving her in this dark place. I would offer to call someone for her, and if she was not responding, I would notify authorities about the girl in distress, I would in general be worried if a 18 year old in a dark place would be in distress and alone!

Appreciate where you are coming from but you could not just walk by and ignore her.
Keep a few feet between you and ask if she is OK in a firm but gentle voice. Offer to call for assistance or make a phone call for her if necessary.

Well Mean Mr Mustard, I'm a woman but yes I would have to this is somebodies daughter and if I were you I would stand from afar with a mobile in your hand and ask her if I could call anybody to help, it may not be serious but I would like to think if my daughter was in need that somebody would stop or call help even to a female passer by.

Most definetely yes thou I must say it doesn't always pay to be the good samaritan as ive found myself in the past. Ask if they need any help but if they say no then leave it at that. I tried to help a young woman who was being beaten up by her b/f in the middle of the day in town and she turned on me instead. Age doesn't come into helping others in need.

I would ask if she was okay. I mean.. what if you end up being the reason for this girl for changing her mind about doing something stupid like hurting herself... wouldn't that be great? And if she gives you the cold shoulder, then you did what you could and just leave it at that. People need help, no matter what age they are.

i would like to think someone would ask me if i was ok, i mean i could have been attacked or anything. it makes no difference how old a bloke is obviously you wouldnt go over to a girl and place your hand on her shoulder, keeping a little distance between you and asking is the right thing to do
