I don't understand anything brilliant that happens is soon followed by something pretty awful. It's like I'm expecting it because it's just a chain of events that are certain to happen. I'm really sick of it happening. WHHHHYYYY????

You have to break that kind of thinking, even if it seems to be the case. You run the risk of "self-fulfilling" negative predictions.

My daughter had this problem for a long time. We've had a rough time of it and she felt like we would never have a decent life. Well, maybe we never will...I don't know...but you can't live in that kind of thought swamp.

Just take each day and each thing for what it is...don't attach expectations (negative or positive). Enjoy whatever goodness you have at any moment. If you don't, everything will be crappy- even the good. Be grateful- even for small things-even for the bad because they're learning experiences. Someday you'll look back and say "I know why I went through all that."

Life comes with zero/ zilch /nada guarantees. Now go out and have a good life, sweetie!!!

Life is suffering. Expect things to go badly, which they will, and you will never be let down, and when something good happens you will be pleasantly surprised. However, also remember that all things are temporary. The good things aren't permenant and neither are the bad things. Happiness is the absence of suffering. If you know things will be hard, then you won't agonize over it which makes you suffer twice for the one hardship. You can train your mind and emotions to endure suffering without becoming unhappy. Even the poorest person can be perfectly happy if they work at it. In the end, isn't happiness really what everyone is trying to find?

Everything changes, nothing stays as it is. This is the nature of reality. It is valuable to know this for your sanity, if no other reason. Just look and you will see. Then you won't expect otherwise and be disappointed.

If good things lasted forever what would you have to strive for. Failure in a persons life helps to hone there personality if they take advantage of it. It's probably a good thing.
