First of all dont listen to Jimmy S. He is wrong. Also ignore this notion that Chryslers from that year had bad transmission. I had a 2001 LHS which was basically the same car underneath as the 300M. They also shared interiors. It was a great car. I loved it. Very reliable, well built, and it never had any mechanical problems. It drove great. It was very nimble and sporty for a car its size. The engine was powerful and smooth and got decent gas mileage. The interior was very luxurious. I would say you would find all of this would apply to the 300M. The only major differences are the exterior styling and the 300 would be tuned to be alittle more sporty then the LHS. The 300M was made from 1999 through 2004 so it gives you several years to choose from.

They are a really nice, distinctive car. They are stylish, sexy, luxurious (love the deco gauges), and quite classy. However, build quality is pretty crappy, they eat through power window motors from what I've read, and the engines are difficult to work on because they are crammed so tightly in the engine compartment. Chrysler has had MAJOR problem with their transmissions, especially this era of Chrysler. Unless you find one dirt cheap, don't buy one. There are better cars for that kind of money.

I had a 1999 LHS.I leased it new, and therefore only had it for three years. I really can't speak to the reliability.

But it was a really great car. BIG, with fantastic rear seat room, beautiful leather seats, great stereo, everything. It was super comfortable to take out on the road. Mine had a two tone interior (tan and brown) that was really neat.

Ride quality was excellent. Maybe a little "big car-ish", but then its a big car. Good power, smooth transmission, no problems.

I'd buy it all over again. But again, I only had it three years so I don't know about long term reliability.
