UH NO, IT TICKLES!
Of course it's painful! I had two c-sections so I was in tons of pain afterwards.

Of course. It's like trying to push a bowling ball out of your vagina. 18 hours of labor with 1 or 2 hours of pushing.
BUT, the good news? Immediately following, you'll forget all about it, because you'll have a brand new baby. And the pain won't seem so bad after. After all, people have more than one kid, right? If it hurt so bad the first time, why would people have more?
I had a regular delivery, and yes, it hurt! But who cares. I have a beautiful 3 year old now.

Actually, the delivery itself is a relief after the labor. I was trained in "LaMaze" techniques before I had my first child, and if you manage the labor, it is not really painful.
It is actually somewhat similar to the cramps experienced when having a bowel movement. LaMaze teaches you to breathe with the contractions, somewhat like you do when you exercise. When the contractions are very hard, you keep your attention on a focal point to distract yourself from the pain. Think about what the baby might look like, and imagine holding it and loving it.
When you see babies being born on TV and movies, they tend to over dramatize the pain.

The delivery itself isn't painful. The contractions are what really cause the pain. When you can't push until you're dilated 10cm, it can actually be hours of pain but the life you bring into this world is worth it. Afterward you forget all about the pain when you look into your babies eyes.

I was so scared about how painful I thought childbirth would be that it was over so quickly. I think the fear of the unknown is what is so scary. It hurt don't get me wrong but I thought that the whole time it was gonna get worse and then it was over. It is the most wonderful feeling after it is all over. I had a fairly easy delivery but I had alot of complications after the fact. I would do it all over again if it wasn't for the fear of something happening after again. You will be fine!!!

To be honest with you yes. It can be very painful, but there's hope the doctors can give you pain medication to ease the delivery. It's call the epidural. It numbs the lower half of your body so you can't feel any pain.

Not so much the delivery- moreso the recovery (especially with a C-Section). Don't worry, the benefits of a new baby will outweigh any pain by far.

Depends on your pain tolerance. I have seen some deliver after having "cramps".while others are yelling and screaming in pain...and technically not being labor.
Even if you have an epidural, labor with it's pain and pressure, and delivery hurt.

Yes delivery is very painful. When the head is coming down you feel a ring of fire.

My wife described the contractions as 18 hours of the dry heaves. Delivery itself was a snap, thanks to the drugs. Figure to be flat on your back, completely wiped out, for a day or two afterwards, then weak and sore for about two - four weeks.
The common comparison is fairly crude; they say giving birth is like pooping a watermelon.
This is a good question for your Mom, if she is still alive and still speaking to you. If not, you have my sympathy.
