we were eating at a restaurant when my baby hit her nose in the table. i dont really think it was a big bump but right now her nose is a little red. it's not swollen or it doesnt look disconfigured. I called her doctor and they told me to just keep an eye on her. I just want to know if there is something else i could do to make her feel better. I dont think she's hurting that bad but I feel like a bad mom because this is the first time she ever hit her nose or any part of her body. I was always careful and now I feel like I need to do more than just keeping an eye on her. Please help me, should I put ice on her nose? It's not swollen right now, but it is still red.

If it is not bothering her then why is it bothering you?
If it is sore you could give her calpol. Otherwise put it down to experience. You can not stop children having accidents.

Yes - some ice or even try an IcyPop or ice cream.

I saw my friends little girl bash her nose and face on the side of the bathtub. The little girl got done pottying and hopped off the potty. She was too short so she just kept going head 1st into the side because her feet never touched the ground. Oh - I thought for sure she was going to have a broken nose or concussion, but just a red spot and that was it.

Kids can do some of the craziest things. I still shudder when I see my 2 and 4 year olds jumping off beds, couches, chairs - anything. I am teaching them stable and unstable so they won't break their necks. AAKKK

I would put some ice on it. Try asking her if it hurts and try some baby pain killer to help out. If you are really up sure about it and you thing you can help take her to a doctor or the ER. Its hard to tell how bad things can be without having a doctor look at it. but kids do fall and get bumps don't beat yourself up because she hit her lil noise it happens.

Welcome to the club called motherhood. Remember that in a baby's nose the cartilage is still soft and it does not stat to get hard like an adults until they are older. My guess would be that there will be no damage done to her nose and it is definitely not broken. If she really hurt herself she would still be screaming. What I would do is give her an extra kiss and squeeze. Please forgive yourself this will just be the first of many bumps.

P.S. Please don't put ice on her nose it will just really make her mad. Maybe a chilled "boo-boo bunny".

Ice Cube, rapped in a paper towel... that works, if you can keep it on the nose for a minute or two, then take it off for about 5 minutes. And repeat

Babies noses as well as most of their bones are very flexible. It take quite alot for them to break. Just do as your doctor says, you might want to see if an ice pack will take down the redness but she should be just fine.

Since it's not swollen I would not worry too much about it. She should be fine. A little redness is normal. Kids fall and get bumps and bruises all of the time. You are not a bad parent, it happens. Welcome to the world of parenthood

No if she isn't complaining that much you should just watch her and make sure she doesn't start fiddling with her nose and irritate it.

Kids bump everything once in a while, especially on tables.

You are doing the right thing. I wouldn't worry, just contact your doctor if there is any negative change. As far as the ice goes, I wouldn't do it and you would probably be in for a fight from her if you try.

Its going to happen, this is just the first of the bumps

The docs would have told you to put ice on it if they thought you should, so I wouldn't do it.

Just keep watching, and don't be surprised if it bruises
