Yes it is. And it's beyond scope of federal authority under the Constitution. But little things like breaking the law or ignoring the constituion haven't stopped him before.

{EDIT to sway} The Supreme Court has ruled that separation of church and state has been the law for 130 years. Arguing otherwise apparently means you want to ignore the past century of law.

George Bush hasn't outlawed abortion. Only the Supreme Court can overturn Roe v. Wade. Individual states can make their own laws, but they are bound to the Supreme Court as well.

Religious and moral beliefs are a mixed bag. Many in this country vote by their moral beliefs, if they happen to be from a Christian background, that will guide their voting.

Ummm, last I checked he didn't outlaw abortion. What planet are you from?

And, for the record, Murder of children isn't a religious issue, it's a legal issue.

Okay, you're not pro-abortion, but what about the right of the child? Does abortion support that child's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Or does it gorge the inconsiderate woman who chose to have sex, knowing full well that she could become pregneant if she had sex? Obviously the second. If Roe vs. Wade was repealed, that would be great, that still wouldn't outlaw abortion, but it would allow states to ban surgical murder of children. I'm all for it.

Now, What gives the president the right to appoint Supreme court judges he wants? The Constitution gives him the right to do that.

(Edit to Coragyrph) The supreme court has ruled that killing unborn babies is lawful, too, does that make it right? the Supreme court also upheld slavery for half a century, does that make them right? The supreme court upheld segregation and 'separate but equal' facilities. Does that make them right? No, No, and No are the answers. The FACT is that there is not reference to religion in the constitution EXCEPT that says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". Meaning that the government CANNOT make you join a specific religion, nor forbid you from any certain religion. It does NOT mean that all government officials must be athiests or must act like athiests.

When did he do this? Your to stupid to live, after asking this question. Everyone knows he can't outlaw Abortions or anything else. Except you. Maybe the world would be better if you had been Aborted.
He never had or will have the right. It's the voters or the supreme court that can or will outlaw baby murdering

Of course it is a mixture of church and state, and therefore not at all proper. Of course, the President cannot take an action of that sort without the help of Congress. But the Supreme Court will have the final say. The laws of a country reflect its moral view, and the views of the citizenry on abortion are obviously widely varied.

An aside to farkus419, "Have you completely lost your mind? Where in the world did you get this information? Get a life!!! Your own, and stop worrying about this crap b/c it simply is not so. You need serious help."

The President can't outlaw abortions, but his appointees to the Supreme Court can. Very scary times we are living in, no?

1st... Bush can't outlaw abortion... congress would make the law
2nd... it would get taken to The Supreme Court the second it got passed, and removed
3rd... separation was made by the supreme court, which means it can be removed, nowhere in the constitution does it state "separation of church and state"
4th... if you don't like it write to your congressman/woman

BTW... I'm not for Bush...

He may be opposed to abortions but he doesn't have the power to outlaw them. Only the Supreme Court can do that.

He has not tried to outlaw abortions. He outlawed PARTIAL-BIRTH abortions. Do you know what those are? That's where labor is induced in the last trimester, and the baby is pulled out feet-first. Scissors are then inserted into the back of the child's head, and the hole is widened. Then, the doctor takes a vacuum and sucks the baby's brain out.
THAT is straight murder. It NEVER should have been legal, ever. There is no question as to whether a "fetus" is a baby at that point.
Yet he's left the rest of abortion alone.

This is for Miss Tequila, but also for anyone else who wants to know how I know about the process of partial-birth abortion:

Does that cover it? I can add more. There are over 800,000 websites with information on partial-birth abortions. I would gladly add fifty more if that would help.

And by the way, I'm anti-abortion for myself, except in cases of rape (ONLY if the "morning-after" pill fails), or when the mother's life is at risk. I do believe it should stay legal, though, because it's better that it's done in a sterile environment.

Third edit: It is not the Supreme Court's decision to make laws, or to pass them. It is their job to simply ensure that the laws passed are constitutional, and to enforce them.

George W. Bush has not outlawed abortions, and as for mixing church and state.

The argument goes back to the time of Thomas Jefferson. He was the first person to coin the phrase separation of church and state. What he meant when he (Thomas Jefferson) said it was that the US government should not direct the people of the United States as to which religion they must believe. Meaning the US govt. has no right telling you what you can or can not believe. Not that religion has no place in govt. considering our govt. was founded by people that believed in Christianity.

GWB doesn't have the right and he hasn't even made an effort to outlaw abortion. Before you ask wacky questions do a little research.
