i'm currently a freshmen at a small state school in oklahoma. i just found out that all of my korean friends got into really good schools like ivy league schools, carnegie mellon, vandebilt, nyu, etc. i don't even feel like talking to them anymore because i'm embarrased. i was happy with my decision to attend a state school but i really regret it now. So i was thinking i'll transfer to University of Oklahoma after my freshmen year, and then transfer to a top school after my sophomore year. ofcourse i'll do my best to get straight a's. is this a good idea??? will the top colleges look at me bad if i transfered once already? i never really cared about where i went to college but now i regret the choices i've made so far. also, my parents went to top universities and i think they feel like i'm a disgrace or something. they don't even tell their friends where i went to college. so i have to go to a good school. please help me!! thanks

Don't transfer twice, that is way too many times. Just find a good basis at your current school, then apply to some top notch school like Brown. I know someone who went to community college and then transferred into Brown.

I feel your pain and here is my 2 cents. I urge you to apply to your Parent Ivy schools. You have to have 3.5 in order to get in easily and 4.0 you are flying.I urge you get a coach or college planner. You can find one to help you, reading your easy and completing you application. You will look good for one transfer not the second transfer. Now go back and see where you at this point and correct the mistake that you made and it is the most easy way to move instead after you have A.A or A.S. degree.By the way, I have been told Standford will allow 75 students to transfer after the freshman year. Good luck and let me know about your decision.

Transferring twice seems a little excessive. I would consider staying where you are this year and next year, work really hard to get top grades, and then transfer to another school. Anyway, no matter where you go for undergraduate, you can always go somewhere else for graduate or professional school. Good luck.

All colleges have residency requirements that say you have to go there for a certain number of years to get your degree.

Don't feel like a disgrace to anybody. I'll probably get into a college that isn't as good as my parents. Not everybody can get into a top university. I have a sister who couldn't ever go to university in her dreams - she doesn't view herself as a disgrace for not going to college either.
