As the previous person said although I could add BBQ lighters pushed into the holes and lit etc etc etc.
However the main thing is to wait until dusk when they've gone to bed. Don't be impatient or you'll get some nasty stings.

If it is not near a building wait until night and take a funnel and pour gas down there hole and light it. If it is near a building use diesel fuel. When it is cool out the don't come out of the hole. You can also dump ammonia down the hole and follow that with some bleach. The fumes alone will kill anything. You always call your local exterminator too. Or if you have someone in your area that has a honey farm they pay have a suggestion.

We had them all around our tree out back and they were eating the roots. My husband called a hardware store and they told him what to use to kill them and he did it over and over for over a month before I could even plant flowers their. Call a hardware store and they will tell you what to use.
