Three thoughts.
1. If it's in a pot, it could be root bound (needs a larger pot).
2.It may be a victem of under or over watering.
3. Location shock.
Take a look at Colorado States web site @ http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/CoopExt/4DMG/Plants/ficus.htm or

I asked my cousins who own a landscaping and plant center that very question. The ficus trees go into shock when they are moved from one spot to another. My tree got totally naked a couple of times because I always rearrange furniture etc. It did recover as soon as I realized moving it too much was the problem. If you find a spot that it thrives in, you should leave it there.

It probably thinks it is winter because the nights are colder. Just sweep them up, keep it well watered , and hope that new ones replace the old ones. I have a ficus that I bring indoors for the winter and if I am not ahead of the cool weather it drops some leaves but new ones grow. Don't give up on it.

Mine always loses a lot of leaves in the fall. It gets new ones in thespring. Just keep it away from the dry heat in your house in the winter.
