They have a right like everybody else. I'm still fuming about the guy who tried to convince me that fossils were found with track prints of dinosaurs and humans walking side by side! These types of statments are enough to make my blood boil. Alot of people have spent alot of time, energy and passion in the pursuit of empirical truth while some people find comfort in a well meaning old book with ideas that, I'm sorry, don't work out in real life.
Galileo spent much of his later years under house arrest because of what he knew to be true. I think it was around 1997 that the pope decided to apologise.
A bit late for Galileo.

I agree completely. All the theories proposed by creationists have been thoroughly trashed both in the academic world and on these boards. The only way to reduce it is to refuse them the oxygen of publicity.
I propose that whenever a creationist question is posed in a science, or other inappropriate, category a high level answerer should respond with, 'This is superstition, not science - please ignore this thread'.
Once this has been done EVERYONE ELSE should boycott the thread EXCEPT to give it a negative rating and report it for abuse. Do not reply to the nonsense no matter how tempting it is.
Ranting at these people only convinces them that they are right, because they are too close-minded and ignorant to understand why they are wrong. They have been taught that the 'truth' of their position creates the anger they engender.
So don't be angry, ignore them, that's what they hate and fear most.
Anyone who sneaks a creationist answer into a thread should likewise be treated: Neg their answer, report it for abuse AND MOVE ON.

Oh Yes. Think about it. They are trying to oust science in favour of their religious theory. Now there are many religions out there and many have their own version of creation but the Christians do not want those taught do they.
What they are seeking is to get yet the government to force schools to indoctrinate children in the Christian religion for them.
Why? because they are failing to do that in their churches.
If Christians want to try and indoctrinate people with their belief let them pay for it not the tax payer!
Why do we put up with politicians that will even consider this when it really smacks of abusing the rights of children to be brought up with freedom of thought and expression?
But back to this site. Isn't it time that Answers banned all the religious preaching that does not even pretend to ask a question?

I think that a scientist who refuses to look to the more secular ideas and blindly sticks to what has been discovered so far, is as blind as the religious person who blindly ignores the clear evidence given by science.
I think its about time people from both areas tried to look at possibilities somewhere in the middle - that is where i believe the truth lies. I dont understand how science can give a fact as an absolute, only to eradicate it when a further discover is made or theory prooved. I also dont understand people who take the bible, or other religious book, as a done deal.
Both view points are, in my opinion, stubborn and short sighted.

Evolution is an reported Phenomena!

What? Everyone knows dinosaur bones are just lies! The sun goes around the Earth! Dig up Copernicus, I say and get his skeleton on the rack!
(Yes, I agree and have got in a fair amount of trouble arguing against flat-earthers and creationists - see my blog)

There is a difference between the creations hijacking science category and believers in science hijacking religious threads. Creations are idiots talking nothing but patently moronic crap and the science people are right.
