years of expereinece with this..
1..score the old paper with utility knife
2. get a spray bottle or a bug sprayer fill with very hot soapy water
3.spray the wallpaper very well and let sit for a little bit
4.start peeling the paper off,,the glue might stick to the wall
5.take a putty knife and scrap the hard pieces, might need to keep spraying with hot water as you go.
saturate the wall if necessary. it will come off once the paper is saturated..remember to lay a drop cloth on the floor..
and also clean the wall of after your done so no paper is left on to dry...hope this helps..dont rent no machine its a wast of time and money...

Put hot soapy water in a spray bottle spray down a section of the wall paper try to get one corner of the paper up so you can spray behind the paper at least a little bit. Steamer's are good to use also just have to watch on how hot you get them so you don't mess up the Sheetrock. Most times after you have sprayed the wallpaper with hot soapy water let set for a min and us a blow dryer on hot and max setting normally will be enough to make the glue let loose then us a scraper and start peeling the wallpaper off.

Wet it down with a sponge and wait...By wetting the wall paper, it will come loose on its own accord. It may take two - three -four application of water, but it will eventually come off.
It's the same principle as when you try to remove a stamp from an envelope. By tearing off a large piece of the corner where the stamp is and soaking it in water, the stamp will eventually separate from the paper.

They sell a product in most home improvement or hardware stores called, "Wall paper stripper" Its non-toxic and works pretty well if you can get down to the underlayer of the wall paper. Use a putty knife to scrape the glue after applying the stripper. If you still can't get it off, sand the old glue with sandpaper (get it as smooth as you can get it) and just wallpaper over it, or paint, or do whatever your gonna do in there. Happy remodeling. I HATE wallpaper! I've had to strip and re-wallpaper several times. I feel for you. I always prefer painting to messing with that stuff.

heat and steam are good ways only if you have wood walls underneath. if you have sheetrock the wall will how would you say, melt. you see sheetrock is nothing but a thickness of pressed hard powder with to sheets of paper on either side. it gets wet it falls apart. You can use a blow torch and a scraper also. use the blow torch for only a few seconds at a time in sections to heat up the glue and use a scraper to peal it off but becareful with the scraper so you dont gouge the paper on the sheet rock our you will then have to do some tape and floating.

Use a paint roller...fill your roller pan with hot water and vinegar (about 1/3 vinegar, 2/3 water). Roll the water all over the wallpaper, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then it will come right off. I use a scraper to get it off.
If that doesn't work (and it will) you can rent or buy a steamer made just for this purpose.
Good luck

Another good method is to gently score the wallpaper with a scoring tool you can get at your local home supply and then spray or sponge on a mixture of fabric softener and water. I used about 50/50 mixture. Let it soak in good and then gently peel or scrape old paper off. Wallpaper put directly on drywall is really tough to get off and this method did the job for me.

Maybe you can try a Paper Tiger. It's a hand held gadget that puts small holes in the wallpaper, then you can put some wallpaper remover on the wallpaper, let it soak, and scrape. It's a chore. Do a little each day.

You have to soak the wallpaper with water. Huge a bucket of water and a sponge and it will help dissolve the glue so you can peel it off easier.

There's also a product called Diff that's made for removing wallpaper. Just follow instructions and the stuff should peal off fairly easily. It worked for me.
