I'd say 'hello, how are you?' I'd probably say 'oh, wow nice bag, shoes lipstick' etc. as I was brought up to be polite (I'm not ancient.) but there is a different vibe today and that would be my modern equivalaent. The words I would say would be true and hopefully make someone else feel good about themselves!!
