A propane tank is in the form of a right, circular cylinder with hemispherical ends. The diameter of the cylinder is 8 feet and the total length of the tank, including the ends, is 24 feet. Correct to the nearest whole cubic foot, what is the volume of the tank?

Looks like we have a cylinder:
8' diameter and 16' long

And both ends for a sphere:
4' radius

Volume of the cylinder:
Pi R2 16 804 cu ft
Volume of the sphere:
4/3 Pi r3 268

804 + 268 = 1072

Cylinder surface = 8 X Pi

Tank Volume = Cylinder surface X Length
Tank Volume = 8 X Pi X 24 = 192 Pi = 603 Cubic Feet
