The sexual orientation of the parents is not a predictor of the child's orientation - otherwise, we'd all be straight because our parents were.
All well documented independent scientific research shows there is no difference in the pyschological outcomes for children of gay parents, compared to those of straight parents. Some turn out to be gay/lesbian, the majority turn out to be straight. They are no more or less likely to be well adjusted adults. There is no reason to restrict adoption by gays and lesbians in any way that is different to the restrictions on straight couples.
I know you weren't serious in asking the question, but it's the draconian thinking of the religious right, and can't go unchallenged.

I couldn't quite figure out if you ment to make a serious point,or just be hurtful.But I believe being a parent has nothing to do with sexuality.Many "GAY" people who dont have their own kids are closely involved with kids of friends and their family and they have been a possitive influence.They make AWSOME godparents and have exposed kids to cultural things they may not see otherwise.And spoil kids rotten.Not to mention the fact that they are often financially secure and as I have witnessed,leave $ to other peoples kids and set up college funds for them.As if it was their own child.So imagine the ones that do become parents.Im sure the child would be loved and given the best start in life.And if the child they adopt just happens to be "gay" also then they would have parents who can understand them and help them deal with the obstacles they will face from negative people.

gays and lesbians should certainly be allowed to adopt kids! I don't see any difference with other people because they can be wonderful parents, but why gay or lesbian kids?... A kid is a kid and if an orphan can find good parents, in a healthy envirement, I'm all for it. I know gay couples and they are not perverts. They are good people, responsible and caring.

just because homosexuals raise a kid ,doesn't mean their adopted kids will turn out gay..my little cousin is being raise by my cousin's gay friends and he's a straight boy.who raises a kid has nothing to do with sexual preference.. after all it's not a choice and has nothing to do with the environment you grow up in.

Yes I think they should. What makes them different NOTHING they just love someone of the same sex. Who cares? Nobody should be able to judge anyone for who they love. Gays and Lesbians are regular people and should be allowed a normal life and be able to have the same rights as anyone else. I have a friend at work and he is gay, I love him to death! He is great to talk to and a really nice guy. So to say that THEY shouldn't be able to have kids is crap! Being gay is a person's choice you don't learn it, It's not pased down in your DNA, it is the person whom has feelings for someone other than who we say they should have feelings for

They should be able to adopt ANY child regardless.
