My city water works guy came to my house to check the condition of the sewer lines before the city came to update the roads. He had a fiber optic camera and digital display. He pushed the fiber optic probe down to the street and beyond to the next street sewer. I thought I wold see blobs of poop and diamond rings and baggies of stuff, but it looked like a clean, wet tube, and a larger one and a larger one. I asked him why everything looked so clean, and he said : because tubes cause water to swirl, everything really does get swooshed down to the water purification plant. It is really a pretty good system.
