what do you think of things like magic mushrooms and cannabis? ok, cocaine and heroin are both plant derived (although processed into their usable form) and you have to smoke cannabis, but what about mushrooms? you can eat them straight from the ground to experience the effect. How can something so completely natural be wrong?

What about poisonous mushrooms? If you eat them and get ill you wouldn't think twice about saying they were wrong. I think the severity of a drug should be based on the effects it has on a person.
So even if it doesn't damge you personally, if it makes you do something dangerous or morally wrong, then it has got to be a bad idea, right?
And, on a slightly different topic (ie. why drugs are a bad idea, rather than morally bad) if something is illegal then you can get yourself into serious trouble with it. Which makes it a dumb idea.

it is wrong to not obey the law. It is wrong to be in an altered state of mind unless it is to relieve pain or suffering. People harm others when in an altered state of mind. I think Cannabis should be regulated by the FDA to be used legally as a medicine in all 50 states. Mushrooms should be researched and if medicinal should be considered by the FDA.

Don't forget that poisonous mushrooms are also natural, as are snake bites. I have no problem with smoking weed, it has a lot of very valuable uses in medicine, legitimate uses that the law is too stupid to acknowledge.

Hemlock is natural too.
I just don't buy that "it's natural" argument. Not so much as you're using it, but it's commonly listed as an excuse for any number of atrocious things.
Leaving "natural" out of the picture, though, I have no real problem with marijuana. Mushrooms aren't my thing - bad trip man! If used in moderation I wouldn't have a hissy about them.

I think it would be best if you asked this question to people whose families have been torn apart by drugs any drugs, I know some one who stabbed there cat too death on so called completely natural hallucinogenic mushrooms! think about it, whose there to tell them how many too take 1 or 100

all drugs should be legal it would take the criminality out of it and reduce crime and relieve pressure on the crimainal justice system to deal with people that harm others not for someone just taking a chemical by choice and
causing no one else any harm

They are wrong in the eyes of society because they alter your senses of reality and thereby your ability to repond to the reality around you. Because of the chance for injury to yourself and/or others, society instills limitations. There are similar limitations in place for substances like alcohol because of the perception that its efeects are fairly predicatble. Obviously, though, in some folks there is enough variation to make thing interesting.

You forgot to mention licking the backs of poisonous frogs. Maybe your prince will appear after eating some mushrooms and licking a frog.

Just because it's natural doesn't mean it can't be harmful to your health. I have never really had a problem with cannabis though.
