Well, as an American, I have to say, if you want a really great city with a lot of things to do--museums, clubs, good food, interesting people, that sort of thing, it will be a big city. That means there is going to be a lot of crime...you can do a search on the Internet for the 10 Best Cities in America, and you will get a load of stuff. Personally, I would say Chicago though. There's alot of touristy stuff, great shopping, and its right on Lake Michigan.

peachtree city geogia by along shot!
-can get anywere on a golf cart
-two lakes within the city
-ranked 8 on magazines top places to live
-great schools
-hardly any crime
-bmx track,skate/dog/kid/frisbee golf/lake/ parks
-freindly people
-close to atlanta without the crime or trafic
-in the best state of all!
-within an hour or 2 of UGA!
-golfcart pathes are in good shape and its a smooth ride to places!

I don't know about statistics, but for me San Francisco (Bay Area) is way on the top.
ocean, weather (fog is only in the city and at the ocean coast), 4 hours to skiing, Wine Country nearby ... and and and

Seattle is a close second, but just a bit too much rain for my taste.
