Anybody that thinks they do play a lot of music videos must be quite young.... They USED to play them MOST of the time not TRL, late at night or in the morning.

You have a point..back in the 80's MTV consisted mostly of Videos. Video after Video..back then, back in the day..the videos went with the songs by white snake, george michael, madonna, etc. these days all you see is reality shows on there and I do Miss the Old MTV.. :)

I don't know. It's kind of sad what America is coming to. I mean, no music videos on MTV? Kinda pathetic... I guess it's because teenagers today are satisfied with cruddy shows about teenagers living on the beach and having half a million dollar parties and acting like snobs. For no apparent reason teenagers idolise these snobs so they watch their shows. With more people watching Laguna Beach and My Super Sweet Sixteen and Date My Mom and Pimp My Ride and The Real World... etc, etc, ratings go down for Music Videos resulting in less of them being played.

snoogans has it almost right.

But your question has been asked since the end of the 80's when MTV cloned itself to BET (the music died that same year).

*I was there too, TinaM, ROCK-ON!*

*angel10e* Your question eludes to another, "Why do we allow stadiums to be named after corporations and not heros?"
Because we don't have hero's except Donald Trump and Bill Gates and all the Enron Execs. We are a moneyworshipping culture now. We don't respect anything else. Just try to ask, "Is making a profit the first rule of business?" Then ask, "What about spending money to take away from the stock value?" (You would see heart attacks happening if you asked that one...right before they see the rope tighten around your neck)
There is a ancient saying: "Wealth is measured by the amount you waste."

Its a money thing, just like all the reality junk on network television, it saves them from hirering actors, and paying big bucks. Alot of the artists more than likely charge alot each time thier video is aired.
Also by using the youth generated junk they air, they are picking up a younger generation and corrupting young minds, without having to pay a high price.

TRL is still on, they're on weekdays at 4pm I believe. Central Time. You can watch music videos on www.overdrive.mtv.com as well.
