I just got off the phone with my bank, and they totally screwed me over! I payed rent at the beginning of last month and I was told that it had cleared. Come to find out it had never cleared.. and that there wasn't enough money in my account when i knew there was to pay the rent check! Now I have a charge on my account and i have to pay for 2 months of rent! What would you do if your bank did this?!

I'd go into the "main" branch and sit down with a personal banker and go over line by line where things went wrong. Any paperwork YOU have, such as deposit receipts, bring with you as proof.
Quite possibly you were assessed fees you weren't aware of (Usually you don't see that until the next statement--ONE MONTH LATER!). I know you are (justifyably) angry but at this meeting try your best NOT to be confrontational--keep it friendly. If this is a first time MAYBE the personal banker will waive the fees THIS ONE TIME.

Some things to consider:
1. Try not to let your balance get below what would amount to one month's fees plus some extra, in my case about $25.
2. Look into some type of "overdraft" protection plan. Just about ALL banks have them.
3. I probably don't need to tell you this now but SAVE ALL RECEIPTS!!

Oh, BTW I HATE MY BANK, TOO!

There was a time when people had respect for banks, but now banks are more in the business of making money. As i told the bank manager yesterday i wouldn't P*ss on him if he was on fire. So i would agree with you i hate banks and im sure most people do
Oh i live in a developing country and all i see is the banks convincing people that life would be better if they put themselves into debt; urg they make me cringe

I would pay earlier, and i would switch banks.

I had NBD, then bankone, now CHASE.....

They treat me well, because at the lowest point i had 30k in savings, I even got gift cards from home depot : )
I ve had them for 10 years, and they have so far served me well, but if another bank offered me a better deal, i would drop them like a bad habit

If you have the paperwork to back yourself up, I'd march up to the nearest teller and demand to see the manager.
