Today is Yesterday's Tomorrow.

I Live in th Future. It is where we all are heading towards, Future.

When driving in a car it is important to view the past occassionaly through rearview mirrors; to be cognizant of the present lokking at sidewindows, gauges, meters, etc; to focus on the future, through the window screen at the road, towards the destination.

Yep, absolutely! But something I've found out over the years is this: if you want a happier or better future, you *do* have control over it, because a good portion (not all) of our future is determined by our present. That's good you're learning to roll with the punches, we can all stand to do that when life throws us curves balls.

Another thing that might help when you're feeling not so great about your present situation, is to stop and think and see if you can figure out what are some of the contributing factors to the current situation. If there's something *you* have done, then make the mental note to improve next time so you don't make the same mistake and have the same consequence again.

If there's things in your present that you didn't contribute to but that you don't like, see if there's anything you can do to make it better -- e.g., if you have a sucky job, maybe look for a new one; if you're in school and are having trouble with a particular subject, try finding a tutor, etc. (I hope this doesn't sound too trite.)

Anyway the point is this: thinking about the future is a nice escape from a bad present, but there's three facets to the present: -1- something you did to make it happen, -2- something you didn't do to make it happen, but that you can something about to change it, and -3- something you didn't do to make it happen and can't do to change it.

Try to do something about 1 and 2, and don't worry about 3 since there's nothing you can do anyway. (I think that's where "roll with the punches" comes in handy!)

Good luck!

i think about the past present and future. its a filthy habit really, i think too much. the future with all its possibilities can lead me to wonder what and how my present course of actions will either help or hurt me down the road. will i accomplish anything, will i be a failure, will this one or that one turn out right. if it does, i think about a perfect moment in the future that is the culmination of a particular path i may walk down. but thinkin too much has and continues to leave me in a motionless an inert state. its better to do and focus on the now, experience it, than wonder about the future. at least thats what im trying to do for myself anyways.

I have thought about the future only when I make an important decision in my life . I ask my self if this is what I really want to do.I don't escape anything. I go with the flow and go with what I feel and think is right.

I don't know about 'escape ' as that would be denial, wouldn't it? The future is usually determined by the past. It is important to be able to roll with it but you must appreciate the fact, as humans, there's little we have control over. Prepare today so tomorrow can be weathered if not sailed smoothly through as opportunity permits.

I did but the stupid thing is that even in the future i want to escape the present, and when looking back the present was not that bad at all and I regretted not to enjoyed more then.

You belong to the present

Yes i do this a lot when i am stressed and things aren't going well. But I am learning that you have to deal with the here and now to get the future you want.

when things are really bad, i'm afraid to think about the future. i think about the past and wish things were different. i wish i could change some things from the past so things wouldn't be this bad in the present.

A better way of looking at it is focusing on your goals and refining your future plan. If you can picture how you can achieve your goals and the steps you need to get there you can make dreams come true!

I'm pretty sure there's a psychological medical term for this.
