I have a daughter who can only have one friend at a time & doesn't like it when that friend has other friends around. She becomes jealous very easily. I just wonder why she feels the need to pull 1 person so close & leave the others in the dark?

This is not something we as parents can control, Unfortunately, the only way she will learn to stop is the hard and heart breaking way, when she no longer has anyone to talk to. Try explaining that to her, and she really wont get what shes doing wrong and will think your just downing her feelings. All we can really do on this one as parents is just watch and be there for the ups and downs.

It sounds to me as she wants to dominate and she is losing that power when there are other friends besides the one person she chose to get close to. Likelihood is that the friends she pulls closer to her have weaker personalities and she just boosts her ego by having this friend do whatever she wants to do for her. I wouldn't worry much since likelihood is that she will be succesful later in life but possibly not have too many friends. She sounds like a go getter. So I don't think its jealousy per se. I know this from experience. That's the way I used to be when I was teen.

Just leave her be. She's too stubborn at such age to listen to the voice of reason. Time will teach her humility.

Lock her in her room for a couple of days and then she will see how it feels to be left in the dark.

Change her diet. Have her stop drinking pop, chips, junk food and all that sugar will eventually escape her system. She will calm down too. Avoid coffee too.

Is she an only child by any chance?
If so this behavior is pretty understandable.
If not, she may simply be shy and insecure around other "new" acquaintances.
