Most like it is edema, swelling to the tissues caused by excessive fluid. You have to elevate your legs as much as possible to decrease the swelling. If this doesn't help, you may need to go to the doctor to get a diurectic which is a pill that help that help get rid of excess fluid through urination. Now if the skin looks kind of wrinkle and starts to weep you may have something called cellulitis which is inflammation/infection to the tissues this can be cured with antibiotics. Hope this helped.

There are a number of causes for your edema, the most dangerous of which is DVT, or Deep Vein Thrombosis. You may possibly have a blood clot in one of the major veins in your leg, especially if you sit a great deal. You need to get to the doctor's STAT!!! If a piece of the clot breaks loose, it could travel to your lungs, causing a pulmonary thrombosis, which can be fatal. So get up out of your chair and get to the hospital.

Get to a doctor pronto! Don't waste any time about this. Sudden swelling like this is a definite medical problem.

Standard answer....go see a doctor. You may have a blockage, you may have gout, you may have heart problems that give you edema. All of which need professional attention.
