Why do women always want to give, when men like yourself feel giving something back means taking out your wallet? Don't be such an archetype. As a man I feel I have lot more to give than my money (my payslips demand creative accounting anyway) but I'll always want to invest in a relationship. Money is just a slight part of that. Sometimes investments are lost - sometimes you gain what money cannot buy.

That depends, if he's just in for leeching off a woman, I have no respect. It shouldn't be expected from either side, man or woman, to get stuff. It's not a problem to share expenses.
You should give because you want to, not because it's expected
America is a very capitalistic country. I grew up in europe and get flabergastered when people are mad because the engagement ring isn't big enough etc (in the US). The whole aditude is warped.
