Yes, I couldn't agree more. I remember when dribbling, passing and shooting were the basic fundamentals of the game, now its the cross over double pump reverse dunk.
The international game is much better than the NBA.

It's not jungle ball, it's athleticism and individual play. We're obsessed with guys that can dunk and do athletic things, where other countries play the team game the way we used to do it.
The Lakers of the 80s and the Warriors with run TMC we're fun to watch and of course the Lakers dominated the 80's. They played great team ball, and it they were great.
It's also a different time. When you see bench players signing multi dollar contracts there is no reason to apply yourself. The players of today do not practice as much and some are so busy in the off season with other things, they dont' come into camp ready to play or in shape.
The players of today can't shoot, can't shoot free throws but boy can they dunk. It's about team defense and team basketball which the U.S. doesnt' do anymore.

first off, we didnt put our best players out there. we have iverson, mcgrady, vince carter, kevin garnett, shaq, and the list goes on, right here in the states. if the USA ever put together the best of all our players, we would dominate.
and playground basketball has made basketball better, in my opinion. crossovers give you the first step over your opponent, it may look flashy, but if you can get an advantage why not take it? a dunk excites your team and your fans and the momentum swings your way, if you know anything about basketball, you should know that momentum matters.
and last of all, look at basketball of the 50's... a bunch of guys shooting jump shots with those grape-smuggling shorts, it wasnt exciting. then came magic johnson, pete maravich, wilt chamberlain, and of course, michael jordan. all of whom used "playground" skills to win. do you think magics passes were "fundamental?" no, they were unique, and he won. do you think wilts blockin was fundamental? pete maravich's dribblin and passing skills? when MJ shook larry bird with his between the legs dribbling, was that fundamental? when MJ switched hands with the layup against the lakers? playground basketball helps a person, if it is used in moderation. of course And1 basketball is irrevelant to the NBA, thats why they cant make it in the NBA, with the exception of Rafer "Skip to my Lou" Alston, who is more fundamental in the NBA than he is in the And1 league. Sorry for such a long response, but it all 110% true.

No, playground basketball hasn't ruined USA basketball, but ESPN's Sportscenter has. Players practice so they can get on Sportscenter. The rest of the world can't compete with the USA playing highlight reel, NBA-style basketball, but the rest of the world knows that if they play good fundamental basketball, they can beat the US.

i pass for Miami warmth. Miami has the basically right followers and has Dwayne Wade, the most thrilling participant to visual reveal unit in the NBA. he's my conventional participant and Michael Beasley is gonna basically get more effective and bigger so i imagine that they have a extreme danger to win the NBA championship in the subsequent few years. it really is except Dwayne Wade receives signed to ny with Lebron, it really is the rumour going round as ny were saving alot of cap area for some good gamers. yet Dwayne Wade is the basically right in the NBA at beating double communities!!! The rockets have become previous, Tracy McGrady continuosly receives injured and Yao Ming cant carry the crew. This website is pretty complete of la followers eventhough they're overvalued thousands. the actually reason that they gained the 09 chanpionship replaced into because of Phil Jackson, the basically right coach ever. so that you need to pass for Miami yet in case you dont like Miami then I recommend Orlando.

The game last night shows that young US B Ballers have lost touch of the concept of good fundamentals, good team basketball, free-throws, defense which wins Championships; not flashing one on five. The Greeks did a great job against the US exploiting their weakness.

No, it's been inconsistant shooting and turnovers. USA can't buy a 3-pointer, and all of the Euros have their CENTERS going 6 for 8, or something freakish like that. Where are Michael Redd and Gilbert Arenas? Humm.....???

I have said for yrs that today's athlete is better but not better basketball players. They are weak in fundamentals. It would be better for them to stay in school and learn their craft.
