Have ever we ever really reached this point?
I think most modern people are too distracted by MTV, malls, video games, clothes,.....to worry if they exist or not.

Historically I think the Greeks had too much time on their hands and that lead to deep thinking. The wine helped too I am sure.

Most have mixed it up with 'I think, perhaps I think, therefore I must reside in a christian pram'.
If everyone stopped trying to be so smart with their own philosophy, perhaps some common sense simplicity would help us evolve still further...

Well, it would mean that some people are miracles, exceptions to this. Some people just don't think, and don't really care to have a conscience. Brains aren't used to the fullest, unfortunately.

There are some people who have reached the «I hate therefore I am» level, though.

Yea!!! Sure. When Heidegger brought up the problem that since Descartes we were obsessed with the "think" part of it. He changed philosophy by focussing on the "AM" part of existing.

I think you're confusing philosophy, science, and consciousness. You're basically taking Cartesian rationalism for granted. I bet you haven't even read any of his works. Why stick to cliches when you have the world to explore?

Well, Descartes problem is that he has a very simplistic picture of humanity. I would say that the not only is it "I think therefore, I am", but also, "I experience, therefore I am"

one has to understand him self in order to understand the world,
