I think you ask that because the PC gives you an error on trying that. Note: floppies are extremely unreliable! Go for a USB-flash drive. Faster and way more reliable.
With a special little program (not DMF), up to approx. 1.7MB are able to fit on a 1.4MB floppy. I forgot it's software name...

Yes, a 3 1/2 inch floppy can hold 1444KB (1.4 meg) a cd rom can 600 meg plus
