Not really, it just takes time for the sprained ankle to heal.
And you must not keep reinjuring the ankle to make the healing process not take longer.
You can help by using compression bandages to help keep the ankle immobile while you are active. Compression also reduces inflammation.
While you are resting you can use alternating cold and hot therapies... about 10 to 15 minutes of one then switch to the other which helps in a few different ways. Heat helps to promote blood flow which brings nutrients to the cells so that they can heal... Alternating this with cold compresses helps to stimulate your bodies natural healing processes.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.
So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.
Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.
A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.
Heal your ankle fully & fast?

See the link below for more information:
Also, it should take about 2 weeks unless there are other complications. It should be rested...and elevated slightly for proper healing to take place. Ice bags or heat pad treatments may help to alieveate associated pain, swelling, and discomfort. Alternate treatment to allow for healing. Ice pack [or heat pad] on 10 minutes..off 10 minutes.. repeat as needed.
Get well, soon!

Ice it whenever you can (reduces inflammation). Keep your ankle elevated whenever possible. Rest it (try not to put any weight on it for a couple of days), and take ibuprofen as directed on the bottle, every 4-6 hours for the internal imflammation, for 24-48 hours.

No. It takes about 4-6 weeks. Be careful not to resprain it or you'll be in a world of hurt. However, you should get some exercise to make it stronger while it heals. Not too much though.

Keep it elevated and ice it every chance you get. Try to keep your weight off it and wrap it with an elastic bandage or get a brace.
It works sometimes but other times all that your ankle needs it time, best of luck

Keep it elevated, keep ice on it, stay off of it as much as possible and when you have to use it, wrap it with an ace bandage. I ahve heard that sweating it will reduce the swelling. Put something like icy hot or bengay on it, then wrap it and let it heat up. (Works on our race horses when they have injuries)
