Don't spend money on stupid crap- like 20 oz Cokes, bottled water, fast food, etc. Don't buy the name brand of anything, because the generic is almost always the exact same thing.
Little things like that add up like you wouldn't believe.

Don't drink coffee from Starbucks 5 days a week. A box of tea is the same price as a venti soy latte with extra syrup and crap.
Don't by single serving foods. A can of oatmeal goes farther than single serving packets. Also over eating means you need to buy more food.
Eat at home.
Subscribe to magazines instead of buying them off the news stand.
Have a hidden savings account with direct deposit. some employers can split your checks into 2 accounts.
Buy things in bulk, like spices, flour, pasta, soaps.
turn off the lights when not in the room, wear a sweater if you get cold.
Buy generic stuff. Aspirin, light bulbs, towels, mouth wash. Some things are right next to each other on the shelves, one costs $6 the other costs $4. A pharmacist friend pointed this out when I bought Tylenol.
coupons!
little things here and there make a difference as long as you;ll save it and not spend it on stuff. Seriously, be creative.

Clip coupons, eat in,drive 50 miles per hour and slower this will give better gas mileage.Put credit cards away and use cash get a second job do not use computer or tv for a month this will save electricity.Pay your bills ontime so that there our no late charges.Stop gambling yes this means no lottery or trips to the track.Quit bar hopping every weekend also no trips to the strip clubs also no trips to the mall the stuff is over priced to begin with.Stay home and cook and clean and read a book or play board games or cut the grass hay winter is coming clean the gutters instead of going to home depot and buying stuff.Eat fruit it is cheaper than cupcakes and chips. No leaving the house unless you are on your way to work also this is when you will do your errands instead of coming home and going back out. When using cell phone use your night and weekend minutes and do not go over regular minutes.Do not overdraw checking account.I could go on but i guess this is enough for now.

Try this. See if your payroll department can automatically deduct money from your check and deposit it into a seperate savings or money market account. Ask them to do a small percentage, say 5% every month. Then see if you can live on the rest of the money.
The theory is, if you never see the money, you won't spend it.
If it's just that you don't have enough money, try looking at all your bills to see if you can cut back or do without all together. See the link below where I went through and documented how I canceled, trimmmed or switched various services to save a bundle of money.

Set up an investment or savings account that you can have a regular amount taken from your pay check and put into the account automatically. Don't put yourself on the account but have someone you trust do it. Then you will have to go to them to get any money and they can help you decide if the withdrawal is really needed.

join your credit union - despite the name they are just as good for helping you build up savings as for borrowing.
Save direct from your pay or bank account, start with any small amount you can currently afford - I have helped people go from saving only 1 per week to 10 per week, by doing it in stages until you don't miss it. treat it as your rainy day money, not to be touched or tempted by except dire emergency. It might take a long time, but you can do it

Pay yourself first. Do payroll deduction through work for retirement (401k), have some money go directly into a saving account.

Have a little bit automatically taken out of your pay check. Have an auto-deposit to a savings account that you never touch. Always pay yourself first. it works.
