Yes.....especially for people who commit crimes against children.

No. Absolutely not. There's no way that 100% of those on death row are guilty. There's no way anybody should accept the execution of innocent people. Now you could restrict the punishment to the those who committed the worst crimes, but that really doesn't help. Justice is not served by executing a mass murderer. You have to execute that person multiple times if you believe in an eye for an eye.

On top of everything else, if you're poor you can't afford a good defense. And the punishment has been handed out in a fashion that appears to be racially biased. There's just too many problems with the death penalty.

I think the death penalty should be removed because we are not really solving anything by killing another human being.
One of my former coworker's father was killed by a man on death row. This man took it upon himself to go visit this man on death row and he even said, "Killing this man is not going to bring my father back." Surley, many people dont think that way but if you think about it, it's the truth.

No because innocent people die every year from the death penalty.

i am religiously inclined to say no.

however, that being said, i wouldn't cry if a child rapist had the death penalty. i guess you could say i'm a little torn.

but wouldn't it be better if they were locked up in a window-less pathetic jail cell for the remainder of their miserable lives? if only prisons were a little less comfortable, i think a jail sentence would be better.

NO! Death penalty is undemocratic, extremely unhuman and by no way possible to defend from any point om ethical or philosophical view. Get rid off it.

The question isn't 'should they keep it?' but, rather, 'why don't they enforce it?'

Convicts have been living on death row for decades. They just keep appealing their case despite the fact they have nothing new to present in their defense. You shopuld be allowed one or two appeals and that's it.

like many people, I have mixed feelings on this issue. as long as lethal injection is the mode of execution, I am steadfastly against it. however, if it can be demonstrated that capital punishment does indeed deter other potential killers, it is much more palatable.
