Not at all. Just keep trying if that's what you want. When my wife and I got married, she couldn't cook anything. I cooked everything, usually on the grill. Through the years she learned because she wanted to, not because she felt she was expected to because she was the wife. Cooking is not necessarily the "woman's job".

Now nearly everything she cooks is restaurant quality or better. I just love doing the dishes so she can fill 'em back up. yum

If you don't do remodeling all that well but you try, is that considered a bad husband? Suppose you're a guy and you're not fertile... are you a bad husband then or just a guy who can't produce healthy sperm?

Since when does trying hard and still not being perfect make you a BAD spouse? Was he under the impression that you knew how to cook like a gourmet chef when you met? Were you deceitful about your ability? If not, then did he think that putting a ring on your finger would automatically make you the next Food Network star?

If he's trying to make you feel bad because you're not Julia Child, you should point out to him that she didn't know how to cook when she got married either. She took cooking classes to learn how to cook for her husband and she wound up cooking for the whole world.

Consider taking a cooking class or two... and then once you've learned to cook, if he finds some other ways to make you feel bad about yourself, consider dumping his complaining butt and using your new talent on people who will appreciate your effort as well as your ability. Let's call this... a warning sign. Proceed with caution.

A bad wife for trying to cook your hubby a meal.. absolutely not! Not all women cook for their families or have the time to so when you are trying to put some effort into cooking, then that is very awesome. When it comes to cooking, it just takes some practice. You might burn a few things here and there or undercook some meat, but you will never know until you try and try again.

Good Luck! Maybe I'll catch ya on the next Hell's Kitchen ;)

NO.. in today's world, a woman is busy working and it is not like in the olden days when a woman MUST learn how to cook and to cook well.. Today, very few women know how to cook.. they do know how to take a meal out of a box and put it into the microwave.. It is unfortunate but society is forcing us(men and women) to be just that way.. So.. to answer your question.. it is NOT considered a bad wife if she puts her effort into it but is not good at it.

At least you are trying!! That's what counts, and the more effort that you put into it the better cook you will become. I don't think that makes you a bad wife at all.

On the contrary, that is considered a good wife. Practice, practice, practice. There are plenty of cook books and TV cooking shows for help if you need it.

absolutely not!
practice makes perfect.
some friendly advice:
understand the usage of pots, pans, skillets, utensils needed to cook the recipe.
be organized and have all your utensils, pots, pans, etc available!
try to taste all your seasonings to understand their flavor in preparing your different recipes.
understand your oven cooking time. some ovens cook hotter than others so that alters the recipes cooking time.
cooking heat on your stove top can also affect your recipe.
use Pam to avoid sticking!
use quality pans, pots, skillets,etc.
have all your seasonings easily available so when cooking your recipes the process will run smoothly will.
think of the process all the way through so you will have everything ready and available as needed.
as a rule don't substitute spices, etc.!
a great web site to help with cooking and great recipes is allrecipes.com! i highly recommend this site. you can change the number of servings which will change the amount of ingredients used in the recipe!
good luck!!!!! that is how i started!

thinking you're a bad wife simply cause you don't cook, cook often, or cook well is a thought process that died with the burning of our bras. We killed it for a reason love. Let it die. Don't bring it back. You're trying and that makes you a good wife. You're trying to please your man, so what if you're not good at it. Trying means you care, and if thats not enough, screw him. Not literally. I clean and my man cooks. Hes better at it, and likes to do it ((actually gets some thrill outta it)).

If your man won't get off his butt to cook himself dinner, there is no reason why you should do it for him.

Hell no! A "bad wife" is one that is not doing her part in the relationship, doesn't communicate, can't be trusted, and shows no love. It has nothing to do with cooking, cleaning, computer, or other skills :)
