I'm in the 2 week waiting period to see if I'm pregnant or not (should be starting on the 4th or 5th). I've been a little stressed, but not overhwelmed with work and my home life. It will sound like a stupid question, but here goes. I usually drink 1 Smirnoff on Friday afternoons with my manager so we can unwind and relax. I now that any alcohol drinking while pregnant is harmful, I'm not THAT stupid, but wil just one drink this early on hurt? No wisecracks or smartasses please!

For those of you wondering cause your already talking s**t... I'm 21 years old, married, and have a steady job. I'm not an alcoholic, only that one drink a week. Don't even do it socially... THANK YOU VERY MUCH

its not a stupid question, in fact it shows how careful and how much you care about your body and maybe a baby soon---i asked my doctor the same thing when i was pregnant with my daughter/ my husband does media projects--tv and radio/ so we are always out-----and he said 1 cup of wine once in a while shouldn't hurt at all, and i was already like 2 weeks pregnant......

No your question is not stupid. Don't let anyone else tell you that it is. I think you are doing the right thing by trying to find out considering the possibility of pregnancy. I've hear different opinions on the subject so I will say that you should ask your doctor but I will tell you this fact about me....

I have 2 children. They are both teenagers now. I wasn't exactly trying to get pregnant either time but hey it happens. At the time of conception for both of my children I drank until I found out I was pregnant. At that time I drank on the weekends at parties and gatherings. I think my drink was a little stronger than yours (a few beers and sometimes Brandy or Vodka mixes) Needless to say both of my boys were born without any problems or complications. They are both above average students. One is straight A's and all honors courses in addition to sports year round and the other is A-B's and plays 2 instruments for band and fun.

If the Doc says stop drinking the alcohol do so but I wouldn't worry too much about the child being screwed up because of an occasional drink.

I have been told by several people that if you had be drinking before you knew you were pregnant not to worry about it. Ok anyway, some may say or you may read somewhere that drinking 1 glass of red wine once or twice a week will not hurt the baby in fact it is supposed to help the heart. Smirnoff I can't say for sure, I mean that is vodka. I would say no, I wouldn't risk it. Talk to your doctor. Tell him/her straight up and ask if it will hurt and listen to what they say.

No it wont hurt. Just as long as when you do find out you are pregnant to not drink any alcohol. In the very beginning its just the cells dividing. The baby hasn't taken shape yet. Usually when you find out your pregnant for sure is when the baby is starting to look like a tad pole and alcohol can harm the fetus.
Don't stress over it. You need to take a test to make sure it says negative and then wait another week and take another one to see what it says. As soon as one of the tests say positive is when you need to stop all alcohol consumption.
Good luck.

I understand your frustation with the other answerers. lol
I do not think that there would be any harm if you were to have a drink in your two week waiting period. You can't stop your life just by thinking "there's a 50/50 chance I'm pregnant", so I say, until you find out you are, a drink wont hurt

One drink will not hurt. There are many of us who drank socially and I know I had one serious night of drinking when I didn't know I was pregnant, because I was probably about 3 weeks along. My daughter was and is perfectly fine. As soon as I knew (obviously I was not trying to conceive) I never had another drink. So have the one, and relax. You will be fine, so will the baby, if you are. Good luck!

I actually read the other day that even one drink could be harmful and they suggest not drinking alcohol period. I'm not trying to be a smarty but if I were you I would go out with your manager but just get something else to drink. Just ask yourself...Is it worth the risk? I mean really, if you are pregnant and something happens, God forbid, but if so...would you blame yourself for that one drink?? But anyway~ Good Luck, I hope your pregnant!!!!!!

You're not ready for a child if you cannot give up alcohol. Grow up a little first, then try for a baby. If you want a baby that much, a Smirnoff will not be so important. This doesn't sound like a stupid question, it is one.

YEh I dont think drinking is a good idea.. but my opinion is i wouldnt drink when im trying to get pregnant, but why risk harming your baby? Good Luck,. and i wouldnt rely on people on here, why not ask your gyno, and get a professionals point of view? Im sure he will suggest vitamins instead of alchohol.

no many people get totally trashed before they find out they are pregnant and they have perfectly normal pregnancies and babies. At this stage in the game the baby isn't even getting anything from you. it doesn't implant until 3 weeks and four weeks is when placenta develops
